Job Title: IN-PATIENT NEUROLOGIST

The brand new, state-of-the-art, 192-bed MaineGeneral Medical Center at the Alfond Center for Health offers comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services for the surrounding communities. Were located just an hour north of Portland, Maines largest city, and three hours from Boston.

MaineGeneral Health seeks an In-Patient Neurologist Physician in Augusta, Maine. You will be joining a team of 3 Outpatient Neurologists who specialize in general neurology, movement disorders, MS & immunoneurology, and stroke.

Responsibilities:

Monday- Friday inpatient rounding and consultations with no weeknight or weekend call responsibilities
No admitting responsibilities, as managed by hospitalist team, surgical team, family medicine residency program, or critical care specialists as appropriate
Renders medical services as a physician specializing in Neurology to patients in our hospital.
Communicates health status and treatment plan to patient and/or family in a way that is clearly understood
Communicates in an effective manner with other medical and clinical staff

In addition to clinical responsibilities, the Neurology Physician will perform medical administrative duties relating to MaineGeneral Healths Stroke & EEG Programs. Ideally you will be able to read EEGs. The Neurologist participates in training of medical residents, education of our ED staff, and code 99 & rapid response teams.
MaineGeneral participates in the Joint Commission disease specific accreditation process seeking, obtaining and maintaining Acute Stroke Ready Hospital certification. MaineMedical Center manages our acute telemedicine program for stroke care in the emergency department.

Requirements:

Qualified candidates must have a M.D. or D.O.
State of Maine Medical License
DEA number
Board certification or Board eligibility in Neurology
